To mark the opening of new exhibition areas in the Louvre's Department of Islamic Art, the Réunion des Musées Nationaux – Grand Palais has invited the Turkish-Panamanian designer Arzu Firuz, in partnership with Porcelaines Raynaud, to design a collection of tableware and gift items. The range is inspired by the rich and varied traditional designs of the historic pieces preserved at the Louvre.

A lid of Iznik origin, decorated with an arabesque pattern and dating from the mid 16th century, provided Arzu Firuz with the inspiration for the Arabesque line which comprises five pieces of tableware : around serving dish, a presentation box containing four dessert plates, a presentation box containing four cake plates, a jar candle and a mug.

Réunion des Musées nationaux – Grand Palais is proud to present these modern pieces suffused with oriental craftsmanship and culture, produced using Raynaud's time-honoured expertise and state-of-the-art technology combined with Arzu Firuz's artistic talent.

The Arabesque line is available exclusively from the Louvre museum shop and all Porcelaines Raynaud sales outlets, from 22 September 2012.
